THE WORK OF HEROES

Maintaining momentum for social change needs strong advocates and big ideas. Designed with a big heart, the OzHarvest 2013 Annual Report celebrates the role of these advocates through the idea of ‘counting on love’. This focuses attention on the depth of commitment given by all those actively involved with OzHarvest’s mission.

OzHarvest’s 2013 Annual Report uses the love heart motif to represent the charity’s meaningfulness to each of the creators. It features a ‘Book of Hearts’, an insert showcasing art works and testimonials from key supporters and ambassadors. These include chefs Maggie Beer, Matt Moran and Frank Camorra, in addition to hotelier Justin Hemmes, and OzHarvest staff and volunteers.

SHARING HEARTS, TELLING STORIES

We asked each contributor to the project to ‘share their heart’ about their own involvement with the charity. These thoughts are used across the Annual Report’s 36 pages as graphic pull quotes to contextualise the individual artworks and bring to life the great commitment shown by the OzHarvest’s army of supporters. The design’s impact is reinforced using bright yellow stock and rendered in the brand font ‘Frankfurter’ for high typographical impact.

CREATING SOCIAL VALUE

With a strong idea embedded into the design, the Annual report was used to attract global support. This was assisted through OzHarvest’s official partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), itself highlighting the team’s work that addresses the issues of food waste, food sustainability and food security.

“The report Frost* designed for us in 2012 was really well received, so extremely high expectations were set.”
