manfredi

Our 15-year relationship born from a trusting and long-term business partnership culminated in us engineering the vision and new brand for the Manfredi’s new food venture, PizzAperta.

The Manfredi vision, entrenched in the pride of his own Italian heritage, was to create PizzAperta as a place that is accessible to all; a place that could reflect real Italian hospitality. Our relationship with Julie and Stefano Manfredi had produced multiple collaborative marketing and design projects for Bel Mondo restaurant, a cook book, Espresso di Manfredi, Osteria Balla Manfredi, Coast, Manta and Ceramica di Manfredi.

A BRAND REFLECTING THE OPENESS OF ITALIAN HOSPITALITY

The name PizzAperta is adapted from the Italian ‘aperta’ which translates to ‘open’. We created a word mark made up of small common forms and shapes. This stencil typeface with no closed spaces deconstructs to form a playful graphic pizza while its patterning translates creatively across all brand touchpoints from the restaurant’s visual signage, menus, packaging, drink coasters and uniforms. The colour palette’s black and white simplicity contrasts and compliments the timber, marble, and textiles of the restaurant’s interior design, integrating seamlessly with the existing Manfredi brands providing a cohesive and compelling experience for customers.

REDUCE, RE-USE AND RECYCLE.

All PizzAperta’s packaging follows the principles of mindful packaging - reduce, re-use and recycle. The cleverly designed GreenBox pizza box is perforated to create plates and folds to store left-overs. This eliminates the need for disposable plates, tin foil or plastic wrap. Overall, the result is a beautiful example of graphic storytelling that integrates sustainability into its brand story in a mindful and engaging way.
