Water NSW

Water NSW was seeking environmental graphics design for its new three level office fit-out that brought together three separate entities under one roof. While wanting the graphics to reflect its role as a water utilities company, the client was keen to avoid an interpretation that would be perceived as too literal. For Urbanite, this was an opportunity to manage the physical changes positively. Staff needed to transition to a more organic and open plan environment paving the way for doing things differently.

A NEW WAY OF DOING THINGS

The amalgamation of three separate entities housed in Water NSW’s new premises in the Parramatta office was an opportunity to reset workplace mindsets. Urbanite’s role indirectly challenged Water NSW’s way of working. The team was mindful that the project was timed with changes that would impact staff considerably. We set out to create a sense of excitement and focus in the space and to relax the aesthetic of the interiors to encourage a less formal and highly productive approach to working.

DESIGNING A CORPORATE WORLD

The NSW landscape was the key theme, with a focus on water. The bold yet playful graphics are pleasantly unexpected revealing a less formal and relaxed side to the brand. Patterns representing water, coast and the bush are expressed abstractly using an expansive colour palette and graphically layered to promote the continuous discovery of new details. A language of symbols used on doors and desks identify different workspaces with a series of posters designed to communicate space usage. Urbanite collaborated on this project with Valmont.
