The Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards 365 (SOYA 365) is a leading grants program for emerging creative talent – a conduit for Qantas to work with the creative community. The program spans 11 creative disciplines including music, writing, filmmaking, architecture and interactive gaming. Winners in each discipline receive $5000 in air travel and access to professional mentoring relationships with creative leaders and industry icons, to help these young innovators expand their horizons.

One of the fundamental aspects of SOYA is the priceless mentoring; with world-renowned mentors stepping up to guide the next generation of talent in their fields. As our Visual Design & Communication Mentor, Vince Frost is highly regarded by our entrants, finalists, winners and the SOYA community. He’s a well-engaged mentor who is generous with his time and advice.

Frost* collective and SOYA

Frost* collective supported SOYA by creating the identity for the 2008 campaign. The new look included print, online, motion graphics, and television. We also designed the trophies and the event space for the awards night.

In 2012, SOYA became SOYA 365 – changing from an annual event to a yearlong, ongoing event focusing on one discipline per month. Frost* collective designed the new website and identity, including the bespoke font for the logo – a customisation of Qantas’ ‘Spirit’ font, also design by Frost* collective.

Creative guidance

Vince Frost has been SOYA’s Visual Design & Communications mentor since the program began and most recently has mentored winners Luke Brown and Wing Lau.

SOYA covers the whole creative community, rather than just individual aspects of it, so there’s really nothing else like it in Australia. It’s a credible creative platform that has a real impact and I’m proud to be a part of it.
